Semester 2: Tutorial 2, Week 15
Semester 2: Tutorial 2, Week 15
This week I continued where I left off for the Ruby's Adventure tutorial. I added different components to the character and the objects in order to have them collide and jump.
Overall I found this tutorial to be one of the most straightforward ones I've done so far.
I find myself becoming more and more interested in 2D games rather than 3D. I find 2D games to be a welcomed change but that might be because it's somewhat easier for me than 3D games, there's less trouble with perspective and normal movement, instructions have a lot less to them with little room for error as well which I also like.
This week I was able to complete the tutorial pretty easily, except for the fact that my character can only move left and right.
This ended up messing up a bit of my work because of the fact that I had to re-trace my steps and see what went wrong. I was able to figure it out that I was missing a line of code in the script and correct my mistake. I was lucky this time, if things hadn't gone the right way I might have not have been able to continue with the tutorials and had to restart it from scratch.

I'm excited to get to finish this tutorial and have a full working 2D game, it would be really nice to make it and then play my work.
