Prototype : Alpha
Prototype
After the fiasco that was my laptop being destroyed, I was able to start my project all over again. This time with the prior knowledge of trial and error I actually able to get a running start on my idea.
I was able to make a huge leap in my work with figuring out how to take assets from different folders and put them in the same place.
The first issue I came across was with my previous assets. I felt like they didn't fit my game properly as the whole thing was based on a dream.

I tried using different assets that were free on the Unity but it seemed like they didn't have any that were very dreamlike.
I also had the issue of my character falling through objects even when I followed tutorials on the matter. Unity tutorials are very sparse with certain beginner topics.
I next figured I would try and make stuff myself, and after a while of messing about, I was able to figure out how to move assets from different folders into the same scene which was probably something I had learned before.

So far what needs to be added now is the obstacles, the music, scripts and some more visual assets. This will roughly take about 2 - 3 days. Some problems that I will need to pay attention to is any script issues as if there is an issue with the scripts then I will need to go back and assess what the issue could be which will take up some time.
This means that I need to save and check my scripts regularly which I need to budget time for as we are drawing closer to the deadline for this game. So far I am progressing well and have a much better understanding of what I'm doing and therefore I'm enjoying it much more.
It sucks you had to restart your project, i hope you learned a lot and are able to recreate what you had done without too much hassle.
ReplyDeleteI had the same issue with my character falling through objects, i hope you got that sorted, it's also good that you got more assets working from the store to add to your game .
Hi Enoh! Your laptop may have died on you but you did a great job at getting back on track with your project! The aesthetic of your game looks super cool and I love the vivid colours. It's good to see that you have an idea of what you need to do next and the amount of time you might need. The deadline is getting closer but I'm sure that you will get everything completed on time! I'm looking forward to seeing your final game!
ReplyDeleteHi Enoh! Your game looks magical so far and I feel like it looks much better than before! The planets make it look like a dreamy land so they're a really nice touch. I feel like you should make the obstacles easy enough since it will take a long time. There's so many tutorials on obstacles moving towards you or I can give you my obstacles asset pack if you want? It comes with prebuilt obstacles that move! The music is really easy to put in there so I recommend some sci-fi. I feel for visual assets you should honestly put some basic trees on there and call it a day since the deadline is soon, It doesn't need to be perfect so don't worry about it! - Anna Zurawska
ReplyDeleteHi Enoh, I am sorry to hear that your laptop got destroyed, but fair play to you for getting back on track and starting again. From the looks of your game from the screenshots you provided your game looks amazing. It really looks so professional looking! I also had the same problem where my ball kept falling through the map but luckily I fixed this with the help of a tutorial too. I wonder what kind of obstacles will you use? I'm guessing they will be moving around and it will be up to the player to avoid these or they lose. Have you considered adding music to your game? i had never thought of using music until someone commented on my blog and I thought it would add to the feel of my game. Just like Anna said above some sci-fi music would work well. I wish you my luck with completing your game and I look forward to seeing the final product. - Aoibhe
